Late Bloomer at Tomatomania
“Late Bloomer at Tomatomania” celebrates the one-year anniversary of “Late Bloomer,” today, Earth Day 2013! The 25th episode begins our second year, and I want to thank each and every one of you who has watched an episode, subscribed, followed, liked, commented, thumbs upped, and most especially, shared “Late Bloomer” with your friends!
Last Earth Day 2012, “Welcome to Late Bloomer” premiered on YouTube and in an article on the previous incarnation of this site.
What a year it has been, juggling the demands of a garden (mostly all on my own) with a web show (with a post-production team of three), averaging two episodes a month. I have learned A LOT about gardening, and I’m sharing it in my new e-book “10 Steps to a Great, First Garden,” available FREE when you subscribe to this website. Loaded with “LBL’s,” aka Late Bloomer Lessons, photos, links, resources, “10 Steps to a Great, First Garden” is YOUR first step to growing your own food! Get it now>>>
“Earth Day is the first holy day which transcends all national borders, yet preserves all geographical integrities, spans mountains and oceans and time belts, and yet brings people all over the world into one resonating accord, is devoted to the preservation of the harmony in nature and yet draws upon the triumphs of technology, the measurement of time, and instantaneous communication through space.” —Margaret Mead
Check out the fun at Tomatomania at Descanso Gardens and listen to Stephen Baldonado’s advice about watering tomatoes, a CRITICAL factor in whether you get it right growing tomatoes. It’s never too late! – Thank you, Kaye

I really enjoy your web shows. Your St. Patrick’s Day show was especially entertaining.
Thank you, Donna! I aspire to entertain, to enlighten and inform, in that order! 🙂
Thank you! My goal is to first be entertaining, because otherwise how do I get people’s attention, haha! Thanks for watching!
Nice episode and great timing (we are in the first few weeks of growing tomato seedlings). Once they are transplanted into the garden, we will take the “deeply and infrequently” advice and water much less often than we have in the past. Thanks.
Thank you! Great to hear from you again. I wish I could be more of a perfectionist like you guys! I’m thinking of buying a chickadee house for the aphids!
Thank you for the advice on watering tomatoes.I live in Australia and have had a bumper crop this year, however I still feel I have over watered in the vege patch from time to time. Will try your methods next year, kind regards,Chris.
Thanks for watching, Christopher! I’m having dinner tomorrow night with Aussies recently relocated to my neighborhood! I also found a method online that I am trying today as since I’m still hand-watering, I get the leaves wet. The jury is still out whether it will work with my clay soil. Stay tuned, and enjoy the tomatoes! – Kaye
