Parrots are BA-ACK!
I was just starting a blog post about my radishes, when the carrying-on outside my office window rang a familiar bell. I grabbed my camera and ran outside and a group of seven green, wild parrots were congregating in the top branch of the tree.

There are parrots living in a power yard near my house – but it’s really hard to get a photo of them – good work.

I think they’re lovely! There’s a couple of towns in England where there are colonies of parakeets and whilst they are not indigenous to the UK, they are like your parrots – intriguing to watch. Lucky you!
Yes, I love the tropical, wildness. They sure make a mess of my sunflowers, but, that’s why I’m growing them, for birds and bees!

We LOVE the parrots. They are characters, they are history (I’ve seen them for 18 years), they are beautiful, and they make hay with my sunflowers, but, heck, I’m growing sunflowers for the birds. Thanks for writing!
Frank, check out today’s post! I returned from a walk in the neighborhood and saw the seven back in my sunflowers and small tree. Shot this with my iPhone. It’s foggy as usual for summer mornings, and I didn’t want to get too close, so I zoomed in, but you can see them. They flew off right after I shot this. As long as they leave my corn, tomatoes and watermelon alone, I’m fine with having them around!
Just FYI: These are Nanday Conure parrots (Nandayus nenday) also known as Black-hooded parakeets. Quite common to Southern California.
